Application Form & Guidance Notes

There are four levels of membership:-

  • Student
  • Member
  • Fellow
  • Retired

The criteria for each of the levels is as shown. You can follow either route one or route two.

  • 5 modules Local Policy Certificate HE

 Or

  • 30 pts. of Community Governance

Passed:-

  • CiLCA

 

 

     
 Fellow
  •  Foundation Degree in Community Engagement & Governance

Or

  • Foundation Degree in Community
    Governance

Or

  • Diploma of Higher Education in Local
    Policy

 

 

Plus

  • 5 Years relevant experience*
  • Significant Contribution to the Sector*
  •  CiLCA

 

 

 

Plus

  • Relevant other qualification at level 5 or above

 

  


Plus

  • 8 years relevant experience*
  • Significant Contribution to the Sector
   * The relevant qualification and experience and significant contribution to the sector is explained in detail in the guidance notes.

Retired member
The Institute recognises that upon retirement clerks often resign or allow their membership to lapse which means that the Institute loses the benefit and experience of having people who are retired as members. The Institute therefore encourages long term continued involvement of its retired members by offering membership for a reduced annual fee of £25. In order to apply to join the Institute you need to:-

1. Download the application pack. This includes the application form and guidance notes. Click here to download application pack. Exisiting members who wish to upgrade their membership can do so by downloading the Upgrade application pack. Click here to download the upgrade application pack.

2. Decide at which level you wish to join

3. Detach the appropriate application form

4. Complete the application form ensuring you meet the necessary criteria

5. Post / e mail the application form together with copies of the supporting documentation (Certificates etc) as requested to:- The ILCM Administration Officer, SLCC, 8 The Crescent, Taunton, Somerset, TA1 4EA /

6. Do not send the fee - this will be requested once your level of membership is confirmed

7. The application process is included in the pack
