The Society of Local Council Clerks is developing fast and is increasingly recognised as the body which represents and promotes 'best practice' in the sector.

The Society is the professional body for local council clerks. Its membership is steadily growing and now represents clerks to over 4200 council in England and Wales.

Through its website, its bi-monthly magazine and its comprehensive training and conference programme, the Society reaches not only its membership, but also non-member Clerks, individual councillors and local councils.

The Society intends to maintain a register of members, non-members and companies who are available to carry out internal audit work for local councils. Those who are accepted for inclusion on this register will be carefully chosen to represent a high degree of expertise.

Members, non-members and companies are welcome to apply for inclusion on the register which will be published on the Society’s website and in “The Clerk”, the Society’s bi-monthly magazine. A small fee will be charged to cover the Society’s costs as follows:
