PRESIDENTS BLOG – NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER 2007 14th November 2007
I attended the ACSeS Conference in London and was delighted by both the warm welcome I received, and also the keen interest shown by the Presidents of other Societies and Associations in the work of our tier of government.
It proved to be an excellent networking evening which was most enjoyable. My thanks to the President of ACSeS, Mr Meic Sullivan- Gould and his colleagues for the kind invitation.
23rd November 2007
Held at The Coniston Hotel, Skipton, Yorkshire, this Quality Counts Conference was the first joint conference organised by the North East, North West and Yorkshire and Humber NALC Regional Development Officers. The conference focused on best practice in our tier of Government with the emphasis on the Friday for Principal Authorities and Voluntary Sector and on the Saturday for Parish and Town Councils. The event was well supported with 96 delegates.
Could I thank the organisers, speakers, exhibitors and attendees for their support.
29th November 2007
I was delighted to be given the opportunity to attend this small gathering in recognition of Alan Fairchild being awarded the M.B.E. It is a fitting recognition of the part Alan has played in the development of our Society. On behalf of all Society members I would wish Alan, together with wife Lynne and daughter Ann, our sincerest congratulations.
7th December 2007
I attended a meeting at NALC Headquarters in London on behalf of the SLCC.
14th December 2007
I was up extremely early to be at Burnham by 10.00am for the Berkshire Branch Meeting.
Could I say how impressed I was by the attendance and just the general organization and enthusiasm of the meeting. Clearly, the Berkshire Branch have got their act together, particularly in relation to the training of Clerks which was excellent. My thanks to everyone in the Berkshire Branch for their hospitality and kindness.
With very best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.
John Arthur
PRESIDENT
