A General Election has been called for 8th June which is the second day of our Leadership in Action conference being held on 7th and 8th June. SLCC’s opinion is that, whilst all attendees will be very interested in the election process and results, it will not unduly influence their attendance. Chief Executive Rob Smith explained “As impartial professional officers our members will not be engaged in any political activities on either day and, whilst some SLCC members will be affected by their council’s premises being used as polling stations or themselves personally assisting their local Returning Officer as presiding officers, poll clerks or counting assistants on election day itself, for the most part they will not be directly affected. Indeed I am very pleased to note that since the General Election was announced a further 10 delegates have booked places for the event which looks set to attract a bumper attendance”.
