Lower Audit Costs for Band C Councils

Speaking in the House of Lords Grand Committee on the Code of Audit Practice 2010 for Local Government Bodies the Parliamentary Under Secretary at the Department for Communities and Local Government, Lord McKenzie announced that the Audit Commission were in discussions with CLG about raising the threshold for limited assurance audits for smaller bodies, including local councils, from £1 million to £6.5 million to reduce the cost and burden of a full code code audit for local councils spending over £1 million each year.
