LEVELLING UP – What does it mean for parish councils? – 22 July

This face-to-face one-day event is taking place on Friday, 22 July 2022 at the Education & Conference Centre, Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, Cambridge. It is open to everyone working in local councils.

Levelling Up is the government’s flagship programme to ensure equality of opportunity across the nation, improved health and wellbeing, tackling inequality.  What is in it for town and parish councils?

Our keynote speaker is none other than Kemi Badenoch MP., the Minister for Levelling Up and for Local Government, on what the government’s White Paper means for town and parish councils’ role in empowering local communities.   With a review of neighbourhood governance, community covenants and devolution amongst government proposals, plus information on the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, this one-day conference will help equip local council professionals to ensure Levelling Up works for their communities.

It will also be a chance to hear from others, including the Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, as well as SLCC president and Huntingdon Town Clerk, Philip Peacock who will share his experiences of the practicalities of taking on services and assets.

What’s in it for you?

  • The opportunity to hear directly from the government minister responsible for our sector
  • Hear how others are working in partnerships to deliver improvements and services to their communities and opportunities to influence how your area’s allocation of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund gets spent.
  • Learn from others’ experiences of taking on services and assets.
