1 May 2025A message from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) President:
Dear Members of the Board and IIMC Membership:
Yesterday, I was informed that a recommendation I made to the Board — to appoint an ad hoc committee on ethics — was in violation of our current policy, as it included former Region Directors in its composition. This was contrary to the rules governing our organizational structure.
While I stand steadfast in my belief that the recommendation was made with impartiality and in the best interest of the organization, I also firmly believe that rules and policies exist to protect the integrity of the association and all its members. In making a recommendation that did not fully align with our policies, I have inadvertently cast doubt on the organization I hold so dearly.
It is with deep regret and a heavy heart that I offer my resignation as President of IIMC, effective immediately. I extend my sincerest apologies to the Board, to the membership, and to all those who place their trust in our organization. I accept full responsibility for this mistake, and I step aside to ensure that IIMC’s mission and values remain at the forefront.
