The Parish Clerk will be joining the Parish at an exciting time with a range of opportunities for development of the Parish Council’s future direction under the recently developed ‘Vision Statement’, and with significant new housing development within and adjacent to the Parish. The Parish Clerk will advise elected members, work in partnership with a wide range of local organisations and sports and leisure clubs, together with principle councils and adjacent parish/town councils in order to inspire local residents to engage with their local community.
The ideal candidate will already possess a great deal of expertise pertinent to the administrative running of a Parish Council, including knowledge of the operation/management/letting of council buildings, together with the aptitude required to undertake requisite training in order to develop the full breadth of skills needed to run such an operation. Some experience of running a small business or department, including managing staff, finances and facilities would be advantageous. Training will be made available. Your prime motivator will be improving the quality of life at the heart of the local community.
Given the totality of, and wide ranging nature of, the necessary skills required for this position, it is unlikely that applicants will possess a ‘full set’. However, the current Interim Clerk will remain in a part time position for a maximum period of one year, in order that direction/mentoring can be given to the appointee.
