Chesham Bois Parish Council seeks a highly motivated, proactive person to be the Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer for the Council. This is an exciting opportunity for a community minded individual with relevant experience to undertake an interesting and varied post in support of a very active parish council.

Chesham Bois is bordered by the two large towns of Amersham and Chesham but has its own distinct character. The responsibilities of the parish council include managing significant areas of common land and woodland, a Local Wildlife Site meadow, as well as formal and woodland burial grounds.

The Parish Council Clerk is a principal executive role with responsibility for advising councillors about relevant legal and regulatory matters. The varied role includes administrative work such as preparing agendas; attending meetings; taking minutes; managing the Council’s accounts; preparing budgets; submitting VAT returns; and being the main point of contact for members of the public, contractors and the Local Authority.

We are seeking someone with the confidence and interpersonal skills to deal with a wide range of people. The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be computer literate and have the ability to work on their own initiative. A positive ‘can do’ attitude is essential, combined with strong financial management and organisational skills.

The successful applicant will be CiLCA qualified or prepared to work towards this qualification with the support of the Parish Council.
