Crowborough is the largest and highest inland town in East Sussex, set within the High Weald Area of outstanding Natural Beauty and bordering Ashdown Forest. It is situated just south of Tunbridge Wells on the A26, about halfway between London and the south coast, and can also be reached by train on the Uckfield line from London Bridge.
Crowborough Town Council is seeking to appoint a new Town Clerk following the planned retirement of the current postholder. The Town Clerk is the proper officer of the council and as such is under statutory duty to carry out council functions. The Town Clerk advises members of the council, ensuring the timely serving of committee papers, delivers council projects, leads council staff, and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Town Council’s services and facilities. This role is at the heart of the council’s decision-making process and makes a tangible difference to the town’s development.
The post requires candidates to have personal resilience, excellent organisational skills, self-motivation and the ability to multi-task.
The starting salary for this post is between £62,377 and £76,277.
37 hours per week, with additional evening meetings (to be taken as TOIL).
27 days annual leave, plus bank holidays and 3 additional statutory days.
