SLCC’s The Clerk’s Manual is one of the most respected reference works in the local council sector. The current edition is, however, in need of an update and the legal advice team have been busy on this over recent months. In the past the Manual has been supplied in a hard copy format at an additional charge but the Board of Directors and the National Forum at their last meetings discussed other alternatives such as publishing in digital format (either in addition to the hard copy or in substitution for it) or incorporating the information contained within the Manual into the general Advice Library on the website. Many differing views have been received on these options. The Board has accordingly asked the current Advice Service Review Team to extend their remit to include the Clerk’s Manual in their considerations and final report which is due to be presented to the Board in the summer.
