This year’s SLCC Conference for Wales at Llandudno on 5th September will include a key presentation from the Independent Remuneration Panel for Wales (IRPW) about its remuneration framework for community and town councillors. There is considerable confusion in the sector as to how to correctly interpret the Panel’s recommendations in respect of the various member allowances and expenses available but, more importantly, how to budget for them. This interactive presentation will provide excellent advice and guidance on how to successfully apply them in your council.
National Finance Advisor, Crispin Taylor, will also be discussing how to correctly process member allowances and expenses through council payroll systems including all the necessary key practicable steps to ensure councils and councillors comply with their legal responsibilities.
Another keynote speaker is James Davies, Chief Executive, Planning Aid Wales whose interactive session will look at planning issues and how to resolve them including how communities can have a real say in the planning process and be more influential on the future development of their areas.
