In a letter to the Guardian, One Voice Wales chairman, Mike Cuddy, advocates a “truly local governed structure”. He notes that town and community councils cover more than 90% of Wales, compared with less than 50% in England. The Welsh Government has established an independent review of the town and community council sector to examine their potential. One Voice Wales, the representative body for Welsh local councils, supports the idea of “empowered local councils with a degree of self-determination but working in partnership with principal councils, the third sector and the local community”.
