Data Protection - ICO responds to SLCC Members concerns
Published 17th June 2019
In a message posted on Instagram, Jovian Smalley, Group Manager at the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), has commented on their recent engagement with parish and town council clerks at SLCC’s Leadership in Action conference.
Jovian and his colleague, Stacey Egerton, delivered an interactive session with conference attendees who overwhelmingly called for more guidance on use of non gov. email addresses and security controls for personal devices as well as highlighting the importance of involving Councillors in the cultural challenge to change DP practice.
In his post Jovian confirmed that he and Stacey are using these findings to inform the final version of their case study from this work, accompanied by a range of interactive and useful privacy tools, which they will be launching in July.
