Published 13th August 2019

A total of 40 town centres from across the UK have been shortlisted for two cash prizes at the Government-backed Great British High Street Awards. Of these, 12 are shortlisted as Champion High Streets, while the rest have been recognised as Rising Star High Streets. The public can now vote online for their favourite Champion High Street, contributing to a judging panel’s overall decision on which is the best.

The winner will receive £15,000 towards a community initiative from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. The shortlisted candidates include many parish and town councils. Belper, Derbys and Narberth, Pembrokeshire are shortlisted for the top award. In the “Rising Star” category, Daventry, Ashby de la Zouche, Caernarvon, Carmarthen, Mold, Llanelli and Caldicote have been shortlisted.
