SLCC last week issued the following statement:
“We have become aware of councils which have cancelled their membership of their local County Association in favour of membership of a neighbouring County Association. Whilst it is the professional responsibility of the clerk to enact the agreed resolutions of the council, we would like to remind our members of the strategic partnership we have signed with the National Association of Local Councils (NALC) which promotes membership of both the SLCC and the NALC. We would also like to remind our members that if their council is not a member of their local association, then it does not hold membership of the NALC irrespective of what other memberships it holds”.
