ILM Level 5 Diploma in Coaching & Mentoring

The level 5 Diploma in Coaching and Mentoring is an ideal qualification for managers with significant responsibility for coaching and mentoring as part of their day to day role. It is also designed to develop learners planning to move into a development role.

This course is conducted over a 12 month period, and there are no formal academic entry requirements to undertake this course.

The learning is a combination of online and tutorials, self directed research and a number of taught sessions in the form of three two day study days, spread out at month one, month three and month six.

At the end of the qualification students will be able to:

  • Understand the purpose of coaching and mentoring within an organisational context
  • Understand the skills, behaviours, attitudes, beliefs and values of an effective coach or mentor
  • Understand the role of contracting and the process to effectively coach or mentor
  • Understand the principles of effective coaching or mentoring in practice and how to evaluate benefits
  • Be able to plan and prepare for management coaching or mentoring programmes based on identified development needs and goals
  • Be able to undertake and record at least twelve hours of formal coaching or mentoring activity with one or more individuals
  • Be able to reflect and review own management coaching or mentoring practice
  • Be able to assess your own skills, behaviours and knowledge as a coach or mentor
  • Be able to critically review and reflect on the effectiveness of your own practice as a coach or mentor
  • Be able to demonstrate how you have developed and how you plan to develop in the future as a coach or mentor
  • Be able to plan and prepare management coaching or mentoring programmes based on identified developmental needs and goals
  • Be able to undertake and record at least 100 hours of formal coaching or mentoring activity
  • Be able to reflect and review own management coaching or mentoring practice
  • Be able to use supervision and reflective learning to develop and improve own management coaching or mentoring practice

About the trainer

Josie has 20 years experience in the FMCG, Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices industry where as a board director of Beiersdorf UK Ltd she was responsible for maximising revenue and profitability.  Her particular expertise and passion lies in the area of people and organisational development. With a philosophy that an organisation can only reach it’s full potential through developing and motivating its people.

In 2000 Josie started her own Business Consultancy Bruck Payne Associates in Royal Wootton Bassett.  Building on a passion for developing people’s potential, Josie works to create a learning environment that enables individuals to develop existing skills and discover unknown talents; and by doing so add value to the organisation and themselves.

In the area of leadership development, Josie has helped clients understand the leadership qualities required to enable them to realise their company vision, and provided coaching, facilitation and tools such as 360° appraisal to encourage and develop their leadership qualities in line with corporate values.
