President’s Blog – 21st & 22nd November 2019

2 December 2019

I was invited to attend the Association of Democratic Services Officers (ADSO) conference in Bristol. Attending these conferences of like minded professionals completely raises the respect for their discipline. It was also so encouraging that problems relating to bullying in town and parish councils was the main topic of conversation when discussing Code of Conduct recommendations – more joint working needed by all.

A really good event and a credit to the Chairman John Austin and Board (no staff) on all the arrangements. ADSO celebrated its 10 years and I am sure they will go on for many more years.

A lot of talk about Modern.Gov now Civica, interesting that only 9 councils in our sector do this. Something I have been considering for my own council – but feels like another whole project in itself and we don’t have the time resources to push further.

Good also to meet up with Philip Horsefield President of LLG, Hans Rijs from Vereniging van Griffiers, Jan Todd President of SOLAR and Kathryn Richmond IIMC.

In the photo Hans and I are demonstrating how we both were subject to the same magician trick.
