Government Consultations in Wales

The Welsh Government is currently promoting a number of live consultations that will be of interest to town and community councils in Wales.

Clerks can also sign up to a consultation email from the Welsh Government to receive regular updates on their consultations.

Constitutional Future of Wales

The Independent Commission on the Constitutional Future of Wales is inviting views on a national conversation about the way the country is run.

This runs to 31 July 2022.


National milestones for Wales

These help Welsh ministers assess progress towards achieving the well-being goals set out in the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015. This consultation is on proposed values for national milestones in:

  • Healthy Life Expectancy at birth
  • Adult healthy lifestyle behaviours
  • Gross Disposable Household Income
  • Income poverty
  • Percentage of people who volunteer
  • Mean mental well-being score
  • Percentage of dwellings with adequate energy performance
  • Status of biological diversity in Wales

This runs to 12 September 2022.


Fairer Council Tax

The Welsh Government is undertaking a consultation on reforms to council tax. Views are sought on the revaluation of all 1.5 million properties in Wales to reflect current property values and a redesign of a system that is 20 years old. This is Phase 1 of a two-part consultation.

This runs to 4 October 2022.


Additional public bodies subject to the well-being duty (Part 2) of the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) ACT 2015

This consultation seeks views on extending the well-being duties to 8 named devolved public bodies.
