A Bright Outlook: Branch Visits and the Road Ahead

29 May 2025

‘What a weatherful May it has been for most of the country. I have had to work with the blinds fully closed, not just to maintain a cool temperature, but also to keep fully focused on the task in hand. If you can’t see the sunshine then maybe it doesn’t exist!

‘So, I have been bowling along (cricket pun as the season is well underway now) with eight more branch officer insights this month and visits to the County Durham & Cleveland and West Yorkshire branch meetings. My findings are beginning to crystallise themselves into some identifiable themes that will help with creating some usable tools and inform branch processes and procedures in the future. Mustn’t get too far ahead though, as the plan is to let branches do the talking. So, make sure you get along to your September branch meeting as your National Forum representative will lead you through the findings and then feed your ideas into the National Forum in October. Seems so long until autumn, but with a flurry of visits across June and into July, it won’t be long before we are closing the blinds and drawing the curtains for a different reason than the one that started this piece!

I will see many of you across June – eleven branch visits planned so far from Northumberland to Norfolk and Devon / Cornwall (a joint meeting – count as one branch visit or two?)’
