25 October 2018Attendees at this year’s SLCC National Conference voted the Clerks’ Chat Show their favourite session.
The new feature, based loosely on a TV chat show format and entitled appropriately “Preston’s Parish People” was hosted by past president David Preston and featured three “special guests” all of whom were clerks with interesting stories to tell.
The “guests” were Annie Child, City Clerk with Salisbury CC who spoke about supporting the community after the Novichock incident; Ruth Mullett, Parish Clerk to Romsley PC who explained the success of the Romstock Music Festival and Steph Bennett, Parish Clerk to Hythe and Dibden PC, who explained local riparian ownership and flooding issues.
As one delegate commented, “The chat show was the icing on the cake, expertly well chaired by David and excellent clerk guests” and another, “The Clerk’s Chat Show was a funny and pleasing new addition to the programme.”
