Consultation to Make Outdoor Measures for High Streets Permanent

13 September 2021

The government has launched a consultation on proposed planning reforms to support hospitality businesses, markets and historic building attractions so that outdoor space can be used more easily. The government is reviewing the temporary measures brought in to give a boost to high streets and hospitality during the pandemic such as marquees in pub gardens, al fresco dining, street markets, to potentially make them permitted development rights.

The consultation opened on 5 September 2021, closes 14 November 2021 and also contains proposals for new permitted development rights around MOD sites.
