Overview

This virtual webinar-based course is suitable for those who are CiLCA qualified and want to help those undertaking their CiLCA qualification whether as a trainer or mentor.
The course will give you the tools to create and deliver engaging CiLCA training and support your students.

Cost: £50 + VAT per person (both members and non-members).

You will learn how to:

  • Deliver CiLCA training in relation to the portfolio guide
  • What is expected from a CiLCA recognised trainer
  • Activities to help students studying for CiLCA
  • Use of CiLCA templates
  • Understand the Training Needs Analysis
  • Understand Peer Reviews
  • Importance of the CiLCA Service Level Agreement

Requirements:

  • Must hold CiLCA (for those in England if awarded CiLCA pre-2012 must also hold GPC Section 7 in isolation) or Certificate of Higher Education in Community Governance
  • Support from your County Association
  • Attended/prepared to attend the Generic Train the Trainer course delivered by Leicestershire & Rutland Association of Local Councils.
  • or hold a Teaching or train the trainer qualification
  • Willing to shadow a CiLCA recognised trainer

About the Trainer

Sue has worked in the local council sector in a variety of roles since 1995, starting as a part-time Assistant Clerk for a medium-sized council near Southampton for six years, progressing to being appointed as full-time Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer for a further fifteen years. After passing CiLCA in 2007, Sue provided Councillor training on a self-employed basis. Graduating in 2014 with a First Class Honours degree in Community Engagement & Governance and winning the AON prize for best performance at Level Six, Sue worked as a self employed locum clerk. Sue joined the Community Governance teaching team after graduating and is a Personal and Module Tutor for Level Four students. More recently, Sue has become a CiLCA trainer and mentor, taking responsibility for the operations management of the CiLCA qualification with Pauline Whitehead in January 2022.
