Overview

How do you bring your community with you on the journey to a zero carbon future?

It’s one of the biggest challenges facing local authorities, sub regional bodies such as combined authorities, and national government, yet parish and town councils operate at a scale that is ideal for having meaningful conversations with residents about climate change, in a way that larger councils cannot.

This webinar will introduce some proven methods of engaging communities on climate change, which  take advantage of the grassroots reach of parish and town councils.

It will also cover:

  • How to develop a social media campaign to raise awareness of a parish/town council’s climate emergency declaration and ongoing work, keeping the community involved and up to date.
  • Messaging and channels that are appropriate for different audiences (e.g. younger vs older residents), and how to engage with hard to reach members of the community.
  • An introduction to the data sets that CSE hold that can be made available to local councils, helping them to target their communications through a more nuanced understanding of the socio-demographic profile of their area.
