Councillors using their own devices has historically been a risk element but the new norm of remote working means that there is now a significant proportion of the Councils workforce working remotely. Given the large numbers of remote workers, many organisations are permitting staff to work on their own personal devices. Whilst there’s a significant costs saving in permitting staff to work remotely on their own devices, organisations will have less control over the device. This can raise a number of risks from a data protection perspective.=

About the Trainer
Sarah Jeffries, Clerk to Maiden Bradley with Yarnfield Parish Council, Horningsham Parish Council, Induction Support Officer, Certified GDPR Data Protection Officer and SLCC Advisor.
Sarah has been a Parish Clerk since July 2005, beginning her employment in the local council sector as Clerk to Maiden Bradley with Yarnfield Parish Council.
She continued to add to the number of Parish Councils she worked for during the following years until she moved into teaching within the sector. Sarah is one of the Society’s two Induction Support Officers for the ILCA qualification and is also a CILCA Trainer.
Sarah is a member of the SLCC Advisory Team and specialises in GDPR and FOI is a Clerk Representative on the NALC Local Council Award Scheme Panel.
