International Women's Day 2021

EXCLUSIVE IWD EVENT - 11th March, 8PM

This March, Stylist Magazine joins Deborah Frances-White, the powerhouse behind The Guilty Feminist podcast, for a special International Women’s Day livestream event. On Thursday 11th March, Frances-White will perform her annual show The Guilty Feminist International Women’s Day Week Extravaganza virtually for the first time on Looped, swapping her usual venue of The London Palladium for an intimate, online audience. Viewers will have the opportunity to join her live and on demand for seventy-two hours following the event for an evening of hysterical comedy, deep conversation and powerhouse music. The show will be co-hosted by Guilty Feminist fave Sindhu Vee, special guest the incredible Alison Bechdel, and feature an interview with Stylist Editor in Chief Lisa Smosarski and the incredible Josie Naughton from Choose Love. The team will be joined by the sensational American Comedy Award Winner Maria Bamford, and a fantastic music performance from GF podcast stalwart Grace Petrie, with many more guests and surprises to be discovered in the show.

The event coincides with Frances-White’s exclusive guest-edit of the March print edition of Stylist magazine, a special International Women’s Day collaboration with Choose Love – and 10% of every ticket sold will support our charity partner. Shining a spotlight on the ongoing refugee crisis and the women at the heart of it, Frances-White and special guests including Yomi Adegoke, Dawn O’Porter, Kuchenga, Weruche Opia and Susan Wokoma, have created an empowering issue that highlights how we can all come together to support displaced women. From charity t-shirts customised exclusively by British fashion designers, to beauty that gives back and stories of hope against adversity around the world, it is a rallying cry to spread kindness where it is needed most.

Lisa Smosarski, Editor in Chief of Stylist says “In a year when we are all reassessing what we choose to challenge, Stylist and Deborah Frances-White are choosing love. For displaced women around the world, the pandemic has made a desperate situation even more perilous but amidst the hardship we found stories of compassion, hope and strength with women at the heart of this push for change. I am delighted that Stylist has teamed up with Deborah on this very special issue and event. It shows the true power of collaboration.”

Deborah Frances-White, host and creator of The Guilty Feminist says “I’m thrilled to the brim to be guest editing Stylist – my very favourite magazine – for International Women’s Day 2021. The theme this year is Choose to Challenge and I can’t think of a better way of challenging injustice for women around the world than choosing to support displaced women who have had to run far and fast at short notice, to rethink and reskill. This is a time for the sisterhood to gather round those worst affected and empower them. Being the lynch pin between Stylist and Choose Love is a great honour and I look forward to creating a vibrant, exciting, challenging issue together. Also I’m a feminist but I love a glam photoshoot.”
