Overview

The focus of Time to Talk Day (2 February) is around building supportive communities by having conversations about mental health with family / friends / colleagues, reducing the associated stigma and feeling empowered to seek help when needed. By having these conversations, we can better support our own and other people’s mental wellbeing.

With Time to Talk Day taking place on the same day as this year’s Practitioners’ Conference, SLCC are instead making space for this important yet informal chat session on 22 February.

This session is not about sharing a mental health problem if you don’t want to. It’s about starting conversations and listening to each other without judgement. Whether you’re in a situation where you’re trying your best to support yourself / other people, or have faced such challenges in the past and are happy to share the things you’ve learnt along the way, everyone is welcome.

To ensure that everyone joining feels free to talk openly and honestly, this particular session will not be recorded.

About the Trainer

Beckie Whitehouse has worked as a parish clerk for the last nine years, serving three separate yet distinct Parish Councils. She has trained and is qualified as a Life Coach and Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) practitioner. Her work has been with adults and young people.

The COVID-19 pandemic – with restrictions and lockdowns – added pressure to everyone at work, and personally. Many clerks work alone in a parish office or from home; this may have added to feelings of isolation and loneliness, which can have an adverse affect on mental health.
