CiLCA Portfolio Course
This is a training course for clerks and deputy clerks in Wales who wish to obtain their CiLCA Level 3 qualification. The CiLCA portfolio course sessions will be webinar based and delivered over 4 to 6 webinar sessions, once a month throughout the year.

Please note that this course will reference the updated version of the CiLCA syllabus implemented 1st February 2021. The syllabus has been updated to reflect changes in legislation and regulation.

Time: Each session will be from 10:00am – 12:00pm

Price

The cost for this course is: £250 + VAT

Please note that the above cost is for the CiLCA Portfolio training course only and not the CiLCA qualification.
Students must register for the CiLCA qualification separately and the registration fee is £410.

We recommend registering for the CiLCA qualification once you have attended at least the first session of the training course.

Joining instructions will be sent to you 3 weeks before the event and your invoice will be sent before the event. We advise that, on receipt of the joining instructions, you are liable for any fees incurred in order to attend the event.

Course content

The content of these webinar courses will be the same as what is delivered on the face to face training. Each of the webinar sessions is 2 hours in length and will cover the individual units for CiLCA in succession. The course covers the following areas of CiLCA

  • The EMMA ePortfolio system
  • Background to each unit and learning outcome in the CiLCA Portfolio guide / Canllaw Portffolio giving you a broad knowledge of all the aspects of the clerk’s work
  • Evidence required to build your ePortfolio for the CiLCA qualification

Meet the Trainer – Gwilym Rippon

Gwilym is a Town Clerk to Bishop’s Castle Town Council, a clerk to 2 small Parish Councils in Shropshire Bettws y Crwyn and Newcastle and a clerk to a Community Council in Powys, Abermule (with) Llandyssil Community Council. Previously a Police Officer for 33 years he came into the sector by accident but now thoroughly enjoys the work. Gwilym is the only clerk that holds CiLCA England and Wales qualifications, has attended the University of Gloucestershire and has attained a Certificate of Higher Education in Community Engagement and Governance. He wears several hats of the society, those being. Trainer for Wales, Employment support Officer and Deputy Advisor for Wales. He was the Chair of Herefordshire Branch and represented Powys Branch on the NEC (National Executive Council). Gwilym also sat on the board member of the Institute of Local Council Management (now the SLCC Professional Development Scheme) and is a member of the Institute. Gwilym is also a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) and attended his first internal conference in Brussels in June 2014 and attended again in September 2017.
