Keeping on Top of Website Accessibility Compliance – 1 December
If it hasn’t happened yet, it will happen one day. A report from the government’s accessibility auditing team identifying the key barriers on your website and commenting on how accurate and up-to-date your accessibility statement is. When you get the report you have 12 weeks to fix the issues identified.
The Central Digital and Data Office (CDDO) monitors the compliance of Public Sector Bodies with accessibility regulations. In December 2021, they published their findings from initial audits – 600 public sector websites. Accessibility issues were found on nearly all websites. Many accessibility statements had key information missing, were out of date or demonstrated no progress had been made in improving accessibility practices. Fixing these issues in a 12 week timeframe with little notice can seriously impact on your other business.
This webinar is designed to help you get ahead.
Rather than wait for a complaint from the public or the auditing body, we are offering a 90 minute training session on updating your accessibility statement.
The session will help you to:
- Check the mandatory minimal requirements are present in your accessibility statement
- Ensure your information provides genuinely useful Plain English support
- Identify the common website problems found in the CDDO audits so you can check your own site, report issues to your web provider and update your accessibility statement
- Identify potential issues caused by popular “accessibility overlay” tools that put an extra toolbar on the webpage
This webinar will help you to update your accessibility statement and improve your website on a timescale that suits you, rather than trying to achieve it in 12 weeks after an unexpected audit.
