Last week, Rob Smith, SLCC Chief Executive, attended the IDB meeting at the National Association of Local Councils (NALC) Headquarters in London, alongside other representatives from SLCC, NALC, County Associations, the Association of Democratic Services Officers (ADSO), Lawyers in Local Government (LLG), the Local Government Association (LGA), and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).
The board discussed the need for a wide-ranging and thoroughgoing review of the sector’s improvement strategy, particularly in the context of the government’s English Devolution White Paper. It also reviewed and offered further support to LGA’s ‘Make a Difference, Work for Your Local Council’ recruitment campaign. Additionally, the meeting included a progress update on its four key areas of work: civility and respect, workforce, data, and intervention.
