9 January 2024Joanna Killian has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Local Government Association (LGA). She will join the LGA in March from her current role as Chief Executive of Surrey County Council.
Joanna is currently Chief Executive of Surrey County Council, serving 1.2 million residents and managing a gross annual revenue budget of £2bn. She has led the authority during a significant period of challenge and change since joining in March 2018. She was also Chief Executive of Essex County Council from 2006 to 2015.
