Assistant Parish Clerk and a Community Engagement & Lettings Officer

Winnersh Parish Council has the following exciting opportunities:-

  • Assistant Parish Clerk (part-time 16 hours/ week)
  • Community Engagement & Lettings Officer (part-time 16 hours/week)

The salary for both positions is between £21,589 and £23,369 (pay award pending) and is pro-rata for part time and is subject to experience and qualifications. The council also offers the opportunity to join the local government pension scheme and 20-days holiday per year.

Winnersh Parish Council, located close to Wokingham in Berkshire, is an ambitious and forward-thinking council that has increased its capacity to help deliver on a range of projects. To achieve this, two new positions have been created, an Assistant Parish Clerk and a Community Engagement & Lettings Officer.

These positions are important to help ensure we remain truly customer focused with a strong emphasis on promoting and delivering our services and facilities to the communities of Winnersh and Sindlesham that we serve. In addition to traditional ways of communication, we are embracing technology with a new website that is currently being developed, and through social media and a variety of marketing channels.

We are also streamlining our processes and have recently installed a suite of RBS Rialtas software for our accounts, facility bookings and allotment management.

The council has embraced the Climate Change Emergency and is committed to reducing carbon emissions and you will play a key role in helping to achieve that.

The health of our community is also important to us and the 11-acre Bearwood Recreation Ground is a perfect place for our residents and visitors to enjoy some relaxation and exercise. We also have an outdoor gym and that is shortly to be replaced with a larger and more modern facility.

We care about our environment and work with our community and partners to develop ways in which we can improve that. For example, we are looking to adopt our two railway stations (Winnersh and Winnersh Triangle) and that will include making the stations and environs much more attractive places for our residents, commuters, and visitors to use.

Hopefully, this will have whet your appetite and you will decide to apply for one of these roles. Whilst not essential, experience in local government and the public sector would be an advantage. Just as importantly, we will be looking for people that are customer focussed with a ‘can do’ attitude, a flexible and creative approach and a willingness to take on challenges.

Further information, and an application form, can be obtained from our Parish Clerk, Philip Stoneman, by emailing [email protected].
