Caretaker/Maintenance Person

Alvechurch Parish Council is looking to appoint a Caretaker/Maintenance Person to join a small team which provides valuable services to the people of Alvechurch parish and surrounding area.

The council is looking for someone who has good communication and interpersonal skills and experience of working in a grounds and building maintenance and/or a caretaking role.

The role will include: caretaking duties at the Hopwood Community Centre and Rowney Green Pavilion, the general maintenance of council owned assets (repair of gates/posts/notice boards etc), together with the planting, weeding and watering of ‘green spaces’ and village planters.

Evidence of competence in using items of garden machinery and spraying of herbicides would be helpful.

A clean driving licence and access to a vehicle 24/7 is essential for this role (mileage allowance paid).

Hours are; 25 hours per week (to service ‘hall user’ requirements, this may include unsociable hours and weekends on occasion, dependent on bookings taken), hours maintaining assets and planting are to be worked around bookings/caretaker duties.

25 days holiday p.a. pro rata

Salary – £9.21 per hour, pay award pending.
