Remuneration: Scale LC2 SCP range 27 – 32 depending on experience and qualifications. Enrolled in Local Government pension scheme.

Hours: 25 per week hours (flexible with further scope for negotiation), including attendance at up to two evening meetings per month.

Council data: Precept: Approximately £150,000. Population 9,519. The clerk is responsible for managing six part-time staff.

 

Bradwell is a mainly urban parish adjoining the north side of Central Milton Keynes.

Bradwell Parish Council wishes to appoint a highly motivated proactive person to the vacancy of Clerk to the Council and Responsible Financial Officer.

The successful candidate will have excellent organisational, leadership and administrative abilities. The clerk reports to the parish council as a corporate body and will help the councillors implement and develop council policy and act as line manager to six other employees.

The clerk must have excellent verbal and written skills in order to work well with councillors, colleagues, parishioners, Milton Keynes Council officials and outside contractors. The successful applicant will either be CiLCA qualified or prepared to work towards this qualification, with the support of the parish council.

The position involves attending meetings of Bradwell Parish Council and preparing agenda and recording the minutes and resultant correspondence. It involves keeping the parish council accounts, preparation of the annual budget, and providing regular financial information to councillors. It involves regular contact with the public, officials and residents.
