Location: Parish Hall at Ravenhill Park, Brereton, Nr Rugeley.
Remuneration: Scale LC2 SCP range 26-29 depending on experience and qualifications. Further progression within the pay scales will be subject to negotiation with the Parish Council. Enrolled in Local Government Pension Scheme.
Hours: 20.50 per week [flexible with further scope for negotiation].
Council data: Precept: Approximately £63,000. Population: 7,500. The Clerk is responsible for managing one part-time member of staff.
Brereton and Ravenhill is a mainly urban parish adjoining the town of Rugeley in the District of Cannock Chase.
Brereton and Ravenhill Parish Council wishes to appoint a highly motivated proactive person to the vacancy of Clerk to the Council and Responsible Financial Officer.
The successful candidate will have excellent organisational, leadership and administrative abilities. The clerk reports to the parish council as a corporate body and will help the councillors implement and develop council policy.
The clerk must have excellent verbal and written skills in order to work well with councillors, colleagues, parishioners, Cannock Chase District Council officials and outside contractors. The successful applicant will either be CiLCA qualified or prepared to work towards this qualification, with the support of the parish council.
The position involves attending meetings of Brereton and Ravenhill Parish Council and preparing agenda and recording the minutes and resultant correspondence. It involves keeping the parish council accounts, preparation of the annual budget, and providing regular financial information to councillors. It involves regular contact with the public, officials and residents
