An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Soberton Parish Council as the Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer.

Soberton Parish Council located in the Meon Valley is comprised of 11 councillors and has an electorate of 1,012. Its annual precept is £39,000. As the Proper Officer of the Council you will advise the Council on whether its decisions are lawful and recommend ways in which decisions can be implemented.

Soberton Parish Council is looking for the right candidate to take the council to its next level of development. The new Parish Clerk will be required to oversee development projects, act as an effective advocate for the Parish and bring rigorous and inspiring leadership to the members and strategic management of the Council.

As an experienced clerk you will advise the Council on and assist in the formation and review of policies to be followed in respect of the Authority’s activities and provide relevant information to enable the Parish Council to make effective decisions.

The person appointed will be accountable to the Council for the management of all its resources, land, contracts and other community assets and will be required to report to them as and when required.

Ideally you will be CiLCA qualified or willing to work towards the qualification and with experience in the sector.

Hours: 10 hours per week

Salary: £10,000 per annum and a working from home allowance will also be paid
