Clerk & Responsible Finance Officer

Rangeworthy Parish Council is seeking to appoint a part-time Clerk & Responsible Financial Officer. This is a permanent, home-based position, with some travel around the parish. Working hours are 39 hours per calendar month, including attendance at monthly evening meetings. Ideally the successful candidate will be available to start on 1 July or as soon as possible after this date.

Rangeworthy Parish is a small rural parish. The Parish Council owns various parcels of land throughout the parish including a playground, woodland, recreation ground (with two football pitches), a sports pavilion as well as grazing land let out via an annual grass-keep tenancy.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and organised and have high levels of administrative and financial skills. Knowledge and experience of working within a Local Government environment is desirable as well as beneficial to this post. You will ensure that all legal, statutory, financial and other governing provisions relating to the Council are observed, and all council meetings are properly administered.  The current Parish Precept is £19,160

Applicants should be confident in working alone and be able to prioritise and meet tight deadlines. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential as are IT skills and experience of managing a website using WordPress.

Salary is dependent upon skills, experience, and qualifications, and is graded LC1 (substantive benchmark range) SCP7-12 (£12.63 – £13.73 per hour, pay award pending for FY 24-25).
