Hours: 37 hours per week to include evening work


Applications are invited for the post of Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer.

The Parish of Wroughton is close to the Marlborough Downs and the Ridgeway National Trail. It is a large village with around 8,500 residents situated in the North of Wiltshire. The village has a large rural hinterland as well as the village centre.

The Parish Council has 15 councillors and is very active, with a number of projects being delivered over the last few years and this is continuing in the future with current projects in need of completion. Wroughton was the first parish in Swindon to complete a Neighbourhood Plan and over the next few years it’s expected to grow in size considerably due to ongoing development sites held within the Swindon Local Plan.

We are seeking a Clerk/RFO with the vision and skills to continue to work proactively for the benefit of our parish and its residents.

The Clerk/RFO will be responsible for managing the day to day business of the council, including the production of agendas and minutes for all council meetings and committees, liaising with outside bodies, as well as providing advice and implementing the council’s decisions. A knowledge of the workings of local government is essential.

The Clerk/RFO will also be responsible for all the financial transactions and records of the Council and the administration of its finances. The Clerk/RFO is also responsible for all Health & Safety aspects of the parish council and responsible for the management of all staff.

The successful applicant should have excellent communication and organisational skills, a sound financial background including the knowledge of accounting packages and payroll packages Sage / Rialtas.

Applicants should hold the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA).
