An exciting opportunity has arisen for a person who is a leader by nature. A person who has the experience and understanding to manage a team of 7 staff and assist 16 councillors while drawing on their vision and positive outlook to pilot the town council’s aspirations to fruition. The town council manages considerable assets and has a history of forging strong community alliances and close partnerships through a busy events calendar, Twinning and ongoing project work. The council holds the General Power of Competence.

The Town Clerk will be responsible for the carrying out all the functions of the Proper Officer as well as be the Responsible Financial Officer with the support of a finance officer handling the day to day management of the accounts. The person will need to be organised and proactive as they will be handling management of not only staff but the services and facilities the town council provide. The work will involve evening meetings and occasional weekend duties.

The post is ideally full time at 37 hours per week core hours being 9am – 4pm Monday to Friday to allow for flexibility to attend evening meetings and pay scale 33-36 (£36922- £39880). The package offers 24 days paid leave plus bank holidays and a contributory pension scheme.
