Clerk to the Parish Council

Southwick and Widley Parish Council is seeking to employ a Parish Clerk who possesses a knowledge of local government and who currently holds or would be willing to work towards obtaining the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA).

The Parish Clerk will be responsible for managing the day-to-day business of the council and its employees, including the production of agendas and minutes for council meetings and committees, liaising with outside bodies, as well as providing advice and implementing the council’s decisions.

Duties will include compilation of correspondence, filing and accounts in addition to being the RFO (Responsible Financial Officer) to the council and administration for the Parish Website.

The post is part time and amounts to 6.0 hours per week. Working mainly from home, the hours of work are flexible except for attendance at evening meetings. This is a Council with 9 members and a precept circa of £15,000.

The salary offered will be based on the National Association of Local Councils pay scale and is within the range of £23,023 – £24,920 (NJC LC2 13 -17) pro rata, dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Must be IT literate (computer equipment is supplied if required). Must be able to store Council equipment and files securely at home address and be available to attend council meetings in the evening of the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm and a quarterly Finance Committee Meeting.

Starting date [ASAP] to allow for briefing, handover and transport of materials and equipment from the current Parish Clerk.
