Clerk to the Town Council and Responsible Finance Officer

Pershore Town Council in Worcestershire is seeking a full time Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer as the existing Town Clerk is retiring after serving the council for over 15 years.

This position provides an exciting opportunity to become part of an established town council who are forward looking and operate at the highest level. Pershore has been a Quality council since 2007 and achieved Quality Gold Status in 2015. They were the first council in the country to renew this award in 2019.

The new Town Clerk will serve a vibrant, attractive and fast growing Georgian market town in the Vale of Evesham with a current population of just over 8,000. The Council is represented by 15 councillors and employs a dedicated team of five – a full time Deputy Clerk, part time Administration Assistant, Visitor Information Assistant and two grounds staff.

The ideal candidate will have experience as a Town or Parish Clerk, Deputy Clerk or senior manager in another public sector organisation, be CiLCA qualified, or prepared to achieve this within 12 months, and have experience of financial accounting and analysis. They will be highly organised and confident as well as an excellent team player at all levels. Good communication skills are essential, both verbal and written, whether drawing up reports, action plans, business cases, press releases or speaking to the media, residents, officers from other councils and members.

Hours – 37 hours per week, also involving evening work and occasional weekends.

Salary Scale: LC3 – SCP dependent upon qualifications and experience – Pay award pending

A relocation package would be considered for the right candidate if necessary and the successful candidate will also be entitled to join the Local Government Pension Scheme.
