Wokingham Town Council is seeking a Deputy Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer (RFO) to work alongside the Town Clerk and manage the council’s finances.

You will be joining a successful and active town council which delivers effective services to our growing town. With the wide-scale redevelopment of Wokingham town centre reaching completion and the new residential estates settling into the long-standing community, this is an interesting time to join the council. It offers the opportunity to further develop the work of the council and respond to residents’ aspirations.

25 Town Councillors represent the eight wards within Wokingham Town. Latest figures put Wokingham Town’s population at more than 29,000 residents.

The Town Council has 18 members of staff and an annual budget of £1.6m. The council manages two community facilities as well as numerous play areas, parks and open spaces. The council has an active programme of arts and culture and civic events.

You will be based in our beautiful Grade II* listed Victorian Town Hall, right in the centre of the town, surrounded by our regular market which is managed by the town council. The Town Hall provides community facilities for our residents, which includes acting as a popular wedding venue.

Salary: £38,296 to £45,495 (depending on skills and experience)
Benefits include access to the Local Government Pension Scheme and Performance Related Pay.
