Shipley Town Council is a parish council working at the first tier of local government. The Council seeks to serve the needs and aspirations of the people of Shipley, with an overall aim of improving quality of life for all.

From 1 April 2022, the Council requires an organised and flexible Deputy Town Clerk to join a small team. The post-holder will report to and work closely with the Town Clerk. Together with the Administrative Officer and eleven members of the Council, the team will provide representation, services and facilities to Shipley’s residents, businesses, community organisations and visitors.

The post-holder will be expected to perform a range of tasks with minimal supervision, although full training will be provided. Regular hours will be 18.5 per week (0.5 of full time), to be worked flexibly from the town centre office and from home, by agreement. Regular evening working, averaging two meetings per month, will be required, with very occasional weekend work.

The salary is National Joint Council for Local Government Services (NJC) scale LC2, points 18 – 23 (£24,982 – £27,741), pro-rata for 0.5 of full time equivalent. Candidates holding the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CILCA) at appointment will start at scale point 19, otherwise one additional increment will be awarded on completion of CILCA. A workplace pension will be provided.
