A vacancy has arisen for a key member of Swaffham Town Council senior management team for the position of Deputy Town Clerk with an opportunity for progression.

Hours: Full-time 37 hours per-week

Starting salary: depending on qualifications and experience SCP 29 – SCP 32 (£32,910 – £35,745 p.a.)


Applicants should be able to take responsibility, working within a small team to strict deadlines, computer literate, well presented, with good inter-personal skills and pleasant telephone manner. To work within the Senior Management team, guide and advise councillors, generally assist in service delivery to the town of Swaffham.

The successful candidate should have experience as a Parish or Town Clerk, as a Deputy or an Assistant Clerk and be capable of report and minute writing, data collection, analysis, research and consultation methods. To be familiar with PAYE, computerised accounting (RBS), Microsoft Office 365. Local government qualifications (i.e. CiLCA/Local Policy/Community Governance) an advantage.
