Estates Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Campbell Park Parish Council in Milton Keynes. Serving over 15,000 residents, across 5 residential estates and 2 leisure/employment areas close to the centre of Milton Keynes, the Parish Council is committed to enhancing the environment and delivering local services to maximise resident well-being and quality of life. The Parish Council has taken on additional responsibility for managing different functions and facilities in recent years and is rising to the challenges and opportunities created by the devolvement of services from the local Unitary Authority.

The Parish Council is looking to appoint an innovative, forward-thinking, and proactive Estates Manager to work alongside the Clerk to Council and the Senior Management Team, to deliver a range of Estate services. The Estates Manager will maintain and manage the provision and development of high quality, resident-focused greenspaces and community facilities throughout the Parish. The Estates Manager will be responsible for devising and delivering a strategic plan for the development and improvement of Parish land and buildings, including horticultural services delivered on a devolved basis.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success, excelling in team management and motivation. The successful candidate will have demonstrable knowledge and experience of human resources practices, an understanding of the role and functions of a progressive Parish Council, and above all a proactive attitude to getting things done. The post holder will show flexibility in their workload and be committed to working outside core hours to meet the demands of the service – whilst the majority of working hours will be daytime during the week, flexibility is required to attend Council meetings and events, including evenings and occasional weekends.

This is a particularly exciting time for the Parish Council as its services and facilities expand, with a focus over the next two years of delivering the first purpose-built Community Hub of its type in Milton Keynes. We are therefore looking for an excellent team-builder to enthuse and motivate an expanding team.

The role will initially be based in Fishermead but will relocate when the Parish Council develops its new Community Hub in Springfield. Working hours are 37 per week and the post will be CPPC Grade 8 (NJC SCP 31-35, £35,366 – £39,571*)/ Grade 9 (NJC SCP36-40, £40,578 – £44,624*) dependant on experience and qualifications. Local Government Pension Scheme access applies. * – subject to national salary award.
