37 hours per week, variable working hours

Biggleswade Town Council are seeking to recruit a Finance Manager to have operational responsibility for managing the Council’s Finance & Accounting function. This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference and help the Town Council achieve its continuing ambitious objectives.

The post holder will provide leadership, vision, and strategic direction to the Council and help drive a culture of continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will have first tier local government experience as well as subject matter expertise in finance and governance.

This is a varied and interesting role which will involve:

  1. Managing the Council’s banking arrangements, revenue function, accounts processes and payroll processes.
  2. Managing and supporting the grant processes and tender processes.
  3. The production of monthly position statements and monthly projected outturns.
  4. The generation of new and evolving ideas to maximise the Council’s revenue generation.

Evidence of budget preparation, report writing and committee work, including attendance at meetings, is required. Experience of the Rialtas/Omega Accounting package is desirable, or any industry standard accounting package.

This is a hybrid role, with the successful candidate working a maximum of two days at home and three days at the Biggleswade Town Council Offices.

Biggleswade Town Council currently provides a wide range of services to the community, including Public Open Spaces, Parks, Tennis Courts, Cemeteries, Allotments and Community Buildings.
