Full Time Parish Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer

Applications are invited for the position of Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer to manage the administration, personnel and finances of Burnham Parish Council. This large parish council comprises 19 councillors, a team of c.15 staff and significant assets. It has a budget c£1m, and the General Power of Competence so the post-holder must be CiLCA qualified. However, the council may consider applicants with experience in a similar role, who are currently studying for CiLCA and commit to gaining the qualification within 6 months of appointment.

The post includes regular evening and some weekend work. The successful applicant will be a highly-motivated and forward-thinking individual who can lead a large team and promote the interests of the community by forging strong local partnerships. They will manage the statutory obligations of the council, including its financial responsibilities. They must be an excellent communicator with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude, combined with strong commercial and financial management. The job is office based.
