Head of Assets, Projects & Services

Are you a positive senior leader looking for a new opportunity? Do you thrive on variety? Are you able to find the balance between strategic activities and supporting operational delivery and reactiveness?

Seaford Town Council has introduced a new role into its staff structure, now seeking a senior leader to manage the delivery of its external services, projects and its large portfolio of assets.

You will be responsible for implementing decisions of the Town Council, managing departmental staff, finances, extensive services and other resources vested in it, and for monitoring, negotiating and reviewing agreements, contracts and other arrangements on the Council’s behalf.

You will be responsible for leading, motivating and developing the departmental teams. Being the Projects & Facilities team at the Town Council offices, the Town Council-owned Seaford Head Golf Course and The View at Seaford Head, which operates as a golf clubhouse, bar, restaurant and function venue.

As an employer, we believe that experience and knowledge can develop and grow within the business if you have the right attitude and personal skills to bring to the role. You will be a confident and professional people leader, who understands and practises the value of great communication and positive management of working and strategic relationships. You will be a master in the art of delegation, ensuring that your teams are empowered and coached in their roles. As a public body, there are very set working practices and approval processes, so you will need to be comfortable working in this way and have the patience to ensure due process is followed. There will always be a degree of operational involvement and reactiveness required but you will understand the importance of prioritising the time required to undertake your role of senior leader – scrutinising, analysing and satisfying yourself of how activities are progressing.

We are offering you a warm team to join in central Seaford, reassurance of a secure job with a public sector employer that understand and practises its duty of care to its staff, flexibility with your working hours and/or to work remotely at times (although you will need to be within a commutable distance of Seaford), a competitive public sector salary and pension and importantly, a role that you can take ownership of and thrive in!

The hours of the post are open for negotiation, although will be between 30-37 hours per week, across four or five days.
