We are seeking to appoint two dynamic, experienced public sector senior leaders to join our forward-thinking Town Council in Biggleswade. The Head of Finance & Strategic Partnership and Head of Governance & Planning roles are integral to our efforts to become the best town council in the UK.

Biggleswade is a thriving market town within the Central Bedfordshire area. The town council serves a population of 20,200 with a 40% increase in population  anticipated over the next few years.

In addition to a wide range of facilities managed by the council, it is currently overseeing the preparation of a Neighbourhood Plan and intends to continue working with its partners to create a new programme of events and services to benefit the community.

Head of Finance and Strategic Partnerships

The successful candidate will be a politically aware professional who thrives in a challenging, diverse role where a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation is a must. A team player, they will assume operational responsibility for managing the council’s Finance and Accounting function, commercial offer and strategy, strategic partnerships, and the Town Centre Regeneration and Place Shaping activity.

Head of Governance and Planning

The successful candidate will be adept at seeing the ‘bigger picture’ and an excellent communicator with an unwavering commitment and enthusiasm towards realising the targets and outcomes defined by the council. With the energy and resilience to drive the pace of change, they will assume the operational day-to-day responsibility for the management of the Orchard Centre, and the council’s Governance, Planning, and Committee functions.

If you believe you have the skills and experience required to work with our newly appointed Town Clerk and Chief Executive to drive forward our exciting programme for change, we would love to hear from you.
