Parish Clerk (also to be Responsible Financial Officer)

Clanfield Parish Council has 10 members. Its employees are the Parish Clerk who is the Council’s Proper Officer and, also, its Responsible Financial Officer and a part time Assistant Clerk/Open Spaces Officer. The council is planning to recruit a part time Ranger during the current financial year.

During the course of the year, the council has 11 scheduled council meetings – one meeting per month except August – and the Annual Parish Meeting which is held in April. From May 2021, the working structure of the council will include three committees – Finance & General Purposes, Planning and Property Management.

The council now owns and manages over 20 hectares (50 acres) of land and property in eleven locations within the Parish and this will increase by about another 2 hectares (5 acres) when two junior football pitches are acquired, most probably in 2022. The portfolio includes 4 children’s playgrounds, sports fields, park land (within which the council will be forming two wildflower meadows this year) and two major community facilities. These are The Clanfield Centre which is a 1,000 sq m (10,000 sq ft) community and sports centre which is being let to new operators, Community First, and which will be re-opening to the public in early June and a Bowling Green and Sports Pavilion at Down Farm Park which is let to Clanfield Bowls & Sports Club. The new Parish Office will be at The Clanfield Centre for the time being. The council also manages 51 allotment plots on two sites.

The council is seeking to recruit a Parish Clerk also to be Responsible Financial Officer to be based at the council’s new offices from July 2021 when the present clerk retires.

  • Remuneration as per NJC scales
  • CiLCA or equivalent or willingness to work towards such qualification
